The Waifs
A trip that began in a van in 1992, playing gigs anywhere in Australia that would have them has led the Waifs to multiple ARIA Awards, platinum albums and successful tours across the world. With a career spanning more than 25 years off the back of relentless touring and ground-breaking records such as Up All Night and A Brief History, the hard yards in those early days paid off in terms of their career, but also bound them together as friends.
The original road warriors, The Waifs have built a career out of continually circling
Australia and the globe. From bustling cities to the farthest regional and coastal towns, they have spent the past 25 years, reuniting with old friends, and gathering new fans, thanks to their enchanting live shows and affable natures.
Four years on from celebrating their 25th anniversary and their #1 ARIA chart topping album Ironbark, Donna Simpson, Vikki Thorn and Josh Cunning
Busby Marou
Busby Marou are fast becoming a National Australian Treasure. Tom Busby (hailing from Queensland, Australia) and Jeremy Marou (from the beautiful Torres Strait Islands) have been playing music together for over a decade since their initial music connection at a pub in Rockhampton. There’s a potent chemistry that drives Busby Marou, and it is that unwritten agenda, a simple intangible understanding between them, that they will continue to drive into the exciting new chapter in their remarkable career.
Busby Marou have gained the reputation as one of Australia’s hardest working live bands best known for their distinctly Australian storytelling and gifted musicianship. Onstage, a key element is the intertwining of vocal interplay of two lifelong mates.
A point of difference for Busby Marou is the energy they put into touring regional Australia with fans from across the country loving the live experience in a Country beer barn equally as much as a slick inner-city theatre.
Busby Marou’s success includes millions of global streams, top 20 airplay & four ARIA Charting albums. Busby Marou’s self-titled album is certified ARIA Gold, while their most recent album The Great Divide and Farewell Fitzroy debuted in the Top 5 on and Postcards From The Shell House was Busby Marou’s first ARIA #1 album.
Busby Marou are now the face of Tourism and Events QLD and have recently signed a long term deal with Sony Music Australia.
This is the beginning and a new and powerful chapter of the story of two men, from two different worlds, on the same journey.
This demonstrates maturity as a result of sharing life experiences.
It’s the wisdom of love, heartbreak and grief.
It’s the education by mistakes.
It’s the knowledge of truth.
It’s the appreciation of the journey.
It’s the respect of culture.
It’s pride.
Proud of where they came from, but more importantly proud of who they’ve become.
Tullara
Tullara has been storming across the Australian music scene ever since her Debut EP release ‘Better Hold ON’ in 2016. Born and raised on a parrot farm in Ramornie, northern NSW Australia (true story), Folk/Roots rocker Tullara went on to win ‘Best EP’ at the 2017 Australian Roots Music Awards – this was the first step to an indie career that has achieved an incredible 1.5 million streams on Spotify.
As her performance rep grew, Tullara won the attention and praise of ARIA Award Winner John Butler “Tullara has a way with words and a way with that guitar!” and Wallis Bird (IRE) “Excellent woman, excellent guitarist, excellent voice, excellent song-writer, excellent hair! What an asshole!”
Tullara has racked up performances at some of the biggest and most respected festivals both in Australia and abroad, and has opened for the likes of Xavier Rudd, The Waifs, Ocean Alley, Donavon Frankenreiter (USA) and The East Pointers (CAN).
Along with her outstanding, all-female band, Tullara’s live show is a main-stage act that commands the stage with effortless swagger and connects to her audience with heart-wrenching honesty. From her guitar playing wizardry to her raw and powerful vocals, Folk/Roots rocker Tullara takes the genre to a whole new level.
Mitch Tambo
Launching his unique and electrifying musical talent onto the scene as a finalist on Australia’s Got Talent in 2019, Mitch Tambo has since become an important and prominent voice for Indigenous culture, youth and communities.
While he started in the industry prior to his appearance on AGT, it was his description as “a true representative of Australia’s beauty, culture and talent” by one of the judges that made people really stand up and take notice of his extraordinary talent and passion.
A proud Gamilaraay man, his rendition of John Farnham’s “You’re the Voice” in English and his traditional language has become ingrained in the Australian music landscape, and has played a huge role in the emergence of an abundance of Indigenous talent over the last few years. Creating a unique blend of traditional Aboriginal music and language with modern beats, his powerful performances and stage presence tell a story of his own journey and cultural pride.
He is also a qualified social worker, working with Indigenous youth to empower vulnerable and disadvantaged young Australians by exploring their cultural identity.
Mitch will be opening Ride the Soundwave with local Birpai community members, performing a spectacular set that will incorporate Indigenous artwork, tradition and dance.
